Sloppy Cory

One of Cory's favorite foods is Sloppy Joes. Actually he loves anything with meat. He would prefer to forget the carbs most of the time, if only I could feel that way. Today I made him this favorite but I didn't have any HB buns but luckily I did have Hotdog buns, same kind of bread right?
He was fine with that and they seem to be easier to eat. Less sloppy around the cheeks.

Of course Frankie never left his side until his plate was clean. Sorry for the dog there is usually no left overs when it comes to Sloppy Joes.

Elvis lives!

Cory had a social studies project at school where the students had to pick someone that affected Nevada in some way. Cory chose Elvis as you can see. Today he had to wear his Elvis costume to school to pose in a Wax Museum for the rest of the school to tour. He also had to create a tri fold poster board with the pertinent information about their person and pictures and what not. Cory did a great job on his. He already turned the board in on Monday or I would show you. He did all the research himself using google to find information. Below are a few shots as he practiced different poses to use in the Museum.

"Thank you, thank you very much."

Evening Dip

When Cory and I got back from gym last night arount 9:00 he suggested we go for a swim. Seeing that I was already feeling the affects of my earlier workout I was quick to agree. Matt is in town visiting Rachel so all four of us went, which was nice because Rachel rarely goes to the hot tub with us in the evening. I stayed in the warm jaccuzzi but the others braved the cold pool too.

I tried so hard to capture a shot going into the pool but I could only seem to get the after splash.

Cory was thrilled to have so many people to enjoy the pool fun with.

Leasurely weekend

The weekend was lovely here, not too hot. We stayed home most of the weekend except for church and it was very relaxing. Cory has discovered this card game called Magic the Gathering which he is trying to teach to his buds around the building. This is his friend Justin. He has pretty long hair and the first time I saw him I was sure he was a girl. Cory found a good tutorial on You Tube that he and Justin sat and listened to and then were able to play a decent game. I'm glad I moved the dinner table back into the dining room so they have some where to play. For a while I had it on the porch to make more room in the apartment but I just couldn't stand not having a table to sit at when I want to.
Sunday was just lovely so we headed off to the pool by noon. I got a kick out of watching Cory and his friend DJ race around the pool in the inner tubes

Cory gave up the fight at one point and tried to cheat and knock DJ off his tube.

I got a chance to visit with DJ's mom today which was nice. Our boys play together all the time but we never seem to cross paths. She is very nice and very young, 32. Her husband is nice too, I met him a few weeks ago. Its good for Cory to have good kids to play with.

A little bit of heaven

Today after school Cory and I went to the pool but the big pool was too chilly for me. As I sat in the hot tub Cory said he would rub my feet, ten minutes on each foot, if I got into the pool. That was too hard to pass up. We ended up swimming for quite some time which worked out good for Cory. But tonight Cory was not too happy when I was ready to cash in.

I put on a recorded episode of Sponge Bob to ease is pain while he rubbed my feet. It was so so worth the cold shock of the water for this little bit of heaven. :)

A message from Cory to Ginny

This morning as Cory was having his breakfast I was telling him about Ginny's recent surgery. He felt bad that she was in pain and wanted to send a get well message to her.

Hope this helps in your recovery.

Medal in the mouth and around the neck

Last month when Cory was at the Nevada State competition one of the other parents took this nice shot of Cory on the winners podium. He received a silver medal on floor and vault. He was very proud as you can see in the picture. More recently he has had to go to the dentist for some serious catching up. Shame on me but he hasn't been to the dentist in a few years and had quite of bit of work. Today was his final appointment until his scheduled check up in six months. He had one baby tooth pulled a couple of weeks ago and had another one pulled today along with some root tips. They had to put a spacer in because the one pulled last time is in a spot where a 12 year molar will come in eventually. He talks a little funny with this medal piece in his mouth but his main concern was will the tooth fairy bring money for the root tips as well as the tooth they pulled.

pool fun

Well the hot weather officially hit this weekend and darn it if both of the pools in our complex were closed. Cory tried to stay cool with his many water guns but then he decided he needed more. He went online himself and found the local public pools and begged me to take him and his clan of friends. It was a nice facility but rather slim on the recreational swimming area.
But the guys made the best of it.

They were taking turns for a while trying to make the biggest cannon ball splash off the middle island.

The life guard was sitting fairly close to me and got a good splash a few times.

Its hard to believe these two are the same age. He has a good foot on Cory easy.

For the most part it was worth the trip over to the pool. It was only a $1 to get in which was nice but next weekend I'll enjoy staying right here and enjoying the free pool.
